Program:
Apart from visiting the main castles in the Loire valley,
you will have the chance to explore the cultural town
of Tours (137.000 inhabitants) on your own accord. Tours
is situated on the Loire – approx. 230 km southwest of
Paris and is characterized by its Medieval center and
modern industrial estates on its outskirts.
During the reign of Louis XVI, the many Loire castles
located close to the town were the seats of the many French
kings until Henry IV finally moved the court to Paris.
Today, Tours lives from tourism as a gateway to the Loire
castles but also from mechanical engineering, the tool
and metal industry, the production of silk products and
naturally also from the wine produced in the Loire valley.
A new technology center co-operating with the University
of Tours, aims to provide a new economic focus for the
area. The town also offers a wide range of cultural and
sporting facilities.
Day 1: Assembly by school and depart by coach to
Loire valley. Numerous stops along the way allow you to
visit the Loire castles or to enjoy the countryside. In
the evening we will arrive at the outskirts of Tours,
where we will spend the night.
Day 2: Drive to the center of town. Free time to
explore the town and taste the local specialties in one
of the numerous restaurants. Depart for Paris in the afternoon
and arrive in the evening.
Price includes
Coach journey to Loire valley and onwards to Tours. Drive
though Loire valley, visiting some selected castles (entrance
included). Accommodation in rooms with twin or several
beds in basic tourist class hotels including breakfast
(some have private bath/shower/WC). Transfer to Tours
